New version of the territorial location of the Zhovtovodska Battle of 1648
Abstract
Characteristics of the Zhovti Vody district, which originates from two rivers of the same name, Zhovta, are the tributaries of the Ingulets and the tributaries of Saksagan. It was shown that the river Zhovta - the tributary of the Ingulets river was mistakenly chosen by the place of the Polish historian M. Dubetsky and with the support of the Ukrainian historian D. Yavornitsky by the place of the Zhovtovodskaya Battle. Because of this, many years of research of the Zhovtovodskaya Battle, conducted by the author of the article and the Polish military historian V. Maievsky, were not confirmed by field and archaeological intelligence, and also did not fully realize the message of sources and schedule of movement of the Polish troops. The new version is argued that the Zhovtovodska Battle took place in the middle of the Saksagan road, on the Zhovta River - the tributary of Saksagan, on the northern outskirts of the city, Pyatyhatky of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
